High modulus, high performance
Because of its high modulus, Endumax® lends itself to improving the force transmission of sails, and can contribute to raising the reaction and steering performance of vessels. The high modulus of Endumax® also allows the manufacturers to offer improvements in the key product areas of sail flexibility, strength and durability.
Unlike synthetic fibers, which require the use of resins in the manufacturing process, Endumax® can easily be integrated into the matrix system of laminated sails, improving product performance quickly and efficiently. Because of its flat film shape, Endumax® requires little further processing to be ready to be integrated into the flat surface of the sail.
Superior weathering performance
Unlike many high-performance fibers, which are weakened by exposure to UV light, Endumax® performs well under sunlight. In outdoor tests (ISO 877), under direct weathering at an angle of 5° facing south without protection, Endumax® film not only showed less performance loss than high-performance yarns, but also less than conventional UHMWPE yarn.
